Chi Omega Make-A-Wish Philanthropy
On Feb. 23, 2024 at Lot 59 in Tempe, the Chi Omega sorority held a car smash event. All of the money that was raised for the event contributed to their greater week long fundraiser, which all of the money was donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. By the end of their week of fundraising events the sorority had raised over $8,000 for the foundation.
On Feb. 23, 2024 many members of Greek Life lined up to buy tickets from senior Ahnya Gurewitz at Lot 59. These tickets would allow the students to smash or spray paint the car.
In February 2024 students would by three swings of the bat for $5, and five swings of the bat for $7. All of the money that was raised through this was donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
When the event came to a close at 6 p.m. on Feb. 23 the car was almost unrecognizable. There was a tarp to protect Lot 59, but there was still glass, metal and other various materials scattered throughout the entirety of the parking lot.
